Our guides have years of experience on the Waikouaiti River and Te Tai o Araiteuru - the sea off the coast of Kāritane.
We are all members of the local waka club, Huateruruku ki Puketeraki, and have a great record of keeping our guests safe and dry (from the knees up!).
Whether you paddle our wakaunua (double hulled canoe) or our wakaama (outrigger canoe) you can be assured that our waka and paddles are rigorously checked so you can enjoy your time with us in confidence.

Please let us know if you or one of your group has a disability and we will endeavour to get you on the water and having a great time. If you will require any medication during your tour please let us know in advance.

  • Karitane Testimonial
A well-rounded experience - Alex brought the landscape alive with stories and local history, great laughs in the waka and I enjoyed visiting the different natural environments

Alex was a fantastic guide, he made it fun and interesting for the whole family! Great to hear about the stories of the past and be contributing back to the land by planting trees too
